Diabetes Eye Screening

Diabetes Eye Screening is a community-based service covering all residents within the Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB). There are 2 teams that cover the district - one covers the North Shore and Te Puna Manawa HealthWEST covers the West.

The aim of this service is to detect early stage micro vascular changes in the retina caused by diabetes. Changes that are detected early can then be treated to prevent visual problems.

The Te Puna Manawa HealthWEST team hold clinics at various venues throughout West Auckland.

You can be referred to the Retinal Screening service by your doctor/practice nurse. Once a referral is received, an invitation to attend screening will be sent to you within three months.
