Te Puna Manawa HealthWEST is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) and Not for Profit Charitable Trust with Māori provider status committed to providing quality health and social services to the community.  We are passionate about improving the health and social outcomes through free, innovative primary care and community services across the Waitemata region with a focus on Māori, Pacific, tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and other high-needs populations.

Ko te tῡranga Mahi- About the Service

Our new service, Kahu Taurima, is a whānau centred service for maternity and early years – a child’s first 2,000 days from conception to five years old.  The service will ensure that whānau have access to the full range of health and social services for the first 2,000 days that is responsive to their needs.  Our Kahu Taurima service will integrate with our other existing services including Outreach Immunisation Service, Whare Manaaki, Healthy Babies, Healthy Futures, Community Connector service and Noho Ãhuru Healthy Homes.  We want the best kaimahi leading, influencing, working collaboratively, enhancing our health and social services to achieve better health outcomes for hapu wahine, mama, papa, pēpi and whānau

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role:

We are seeking a registered Kai Tauwhiro – Social Worker to provide care, advice and support to whānau.  This important role will work alongside whānau to promote health literacy, health promotion and provide appropriate health interventions.   

This exciting full-time (fixed term) position is ideally suited to a positive and enthusiastic person with great community networks and vast social work experience.  Our ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging and working collaboratively with various organisations and across the community, will thrive within a te ao Māori framework, and will have the skills and expertise to support the programme kaupapa. 

 

Preferred Skill Requirements:

  • Extensive Social Work experience and knowledge
  • Experience working with Māori communities from a te ao Māori perspective
  • Good computer literacy with data entry experience
  • Full, clean drivers’ licence
  • A strong whānau ora approach with a particular focus on hapu wahine, mama, papa, pēpi and whānau
  • Experience in delivering frontline services that embraces Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti
  • Well-developed networks in the community
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori
  • The ability to connect with families through whakawhanaungatanga

All kaimahi will be supported with supervision, training and development opportunities, and provided with a mobile phone, laptop, and access to fleet vehicles.
