Healthwest Green Prescriptions

Your doctor or practice nurse has asked if you would be interested in receiving a Green Prescription (GRx) to help you to make some lifestyle changes. Your doctor / practice nurse then writes out a GRx form and faxes it through to the GRx Waitakere office where all your details are written up and handed on to a patient support person. The patient support person then phones you and together you make a plan for you to become more active and make healthier food choices.

When will you receive your motivational call?

We try to reach you within 10 working days, though this is not always possible.

What happens then?

You will be sent a pack containing several great resources, according to your needs and the plan you make. You may decide to go walking, water walking, swimming, to the gym, or to one of our GRx Support Programmes, and to take advantage of our discount services.

Green Prescription Dietetic Service

$5 unwaged, $10 Waged - this covers 3 visits

GRx members can make an appointment with our dietitian for only $5 unwaged or $10 waged. As we still have to pay the dietitian if you don't turn up, we don't give further appointments to anyone who has booked and not given a minimum of 24 hours notice of postponement. Members are entitled to 3 visits. All appointments are booked through the HealthWEST receptionist on (09) 839 0556 as part of a Green Prescription.

Green Prescription Osteopathic Service

$5 unwaged, $10 waged per visit

GRx members can have an appointment with the osteopathic service through their GRx. Your GRx patient support person will fax all your details to the osteopathic clinic and the clinic will phone you and make an appointment.

Move4Health & Breakfast Club

Move4Health is held at two locations, The Trusts Stadium Monday and Fridays - 6.30am - 7.30am and Massey Leisure Centre, Wednesday 10.45am - 12.Noon. Both are just a gold coin donation. Press link for further information

So what do I get?

Motivational Calls

An initial call from your Patient Support Person to help you work out your plan for a healthier lifestyle, then two more monthly calls to see how it is going and offer support. If you decide to go on one of the GRx support programmes, you will not get the follow-up calls as that is all done at the programme.

A GRx Pack

Filled with all sorts of resources to help you on your way to healthier living, this is a tool you can use forever.
